10 facts of a smoking worldThis cheat sheet and warning about the dangers and senselessness of smoking in 10 points is devoted to all smokers and non-smokers.

Fact 1. War of the Worlds

In Britain, due to antismoking service an enactment has been adopted which states that a nonsmoking employee may demand compensation. For the first time an employee of London office who suffers from chronic bronchitis has got such compensation in the amount of 25 thousand dollars. Since 1993, it has been forbidden to smoke in suburban trains. In Norway it is forbidden to smoke everywhere except your own house or car. In Belgium it is forbidden to smoke indoors, at the presence of children, in hospitals, at workplaces, railway stations and in public places. In Japan and Finland medical activities are incompatible with smoking.

Fact 2. Smoking Child

Weight of the children whose mother is smoking is about 200g less than in the normal babies. All hazardous substances pass into the placenta and enter the body of the child. And the concentration of nicotine, carbon monoxide, benzopyrene and other substances in fetus are higher than in the blood of the mother. The risk of pregnancy outcome does not depend on the number of cigarettes, and it is directly dependent on the fact of smoking.

Fact 3. Lung Cancer

The smoking harm was discovered only in the 50th of the last century. The active tobacco control began its work in 70th when it was established the direct connection of the smoking with lung cancer.

Fact 4. Infertility

Aromatic hydrocarbons, which are an integral part of tobacco smoke cause death of ova. These substances, getting into the body, act with the specific proteins – receptors. This interaction triggers the death of ova. Scientists assure that the risk of infertility is especially dangerous for women who started smoking at a young age. In smoking women menopause occurs 3 years earlier than in non-smokers.

Fact 5. Hookah is not an alternative to smoking cigarettes

The organism gets 2 times more of tar and carbon monoxide and 3 times more of nicotine at smoking of hookah. It is due to the period of smoking, it is about 45 minutes, but in some cases it may be several hours. In addition, the collective smoking promotes the transfer of infectious diseases. Doctors say about “the hookah dependence”, which is no better than cigarettes.

Fact 6. Vaccine against smoking

In 2010, the end of clinical trials of a vaccine against smoking is expected. Its action consists in the formation of antibodies in the blood, which prevent nicotine entrance into the brain. The immune system regards nicotine as an alien substance and completely inactivates its effect on the body. A smoker does not get any pleasure from cigarettes. Doctors expect that vaccination will be vaccinated once a year.

Fact 7. Hidden evidences of harm

Evidences of harm from passive smoking were obtained in 1982 … in one of the laboratories of the company Philip Morris, but this information reached the public only in 1992. In the early eighties, researchers conducted experiments in which animals were exposed to tobacco smoke at much lower concentrations than with active smoking. The animals had ulcers on the mucous membrane of the nose, and then the frequency of malignant tumors of the upper respiratory tract increased. The biggest company of cigarette production concealed scientific evidences for 10 years!

Fact 8. Reduced life span

Smoking will kill about half of those who started to smoke during adolescence and will continue to smoke during their lifetime. Forty years of the investigations in the developed countries of the world have proven that smoking kills about half of persistent smokers who are addicted to this habit in their teens, and half of them – until they reach the age of 70.

Fact 9. Alcohol and smoking

Alcohol oppresses the enzymes processing of the foreign substances in the body. Harmful components of tobacco smoke stay longer in the body, thereby increase the duration of tobacco intoxication. Alcohol and harmful components of cigarette supplement the action of each other.

Fact 10. Bunch of disease

The result of constant smoking is a whole bunch of disease.
They are malignant tumors of the lung, larynx, oral cavity, pharynx, esophagus, bladder, kidney, ureter, uterus, pancreas, stomach; chronic infection due to immunity reduction; chronic lung disease, chronic bronchitis and emphysema; cardiovascular disease, including myocardial infarction, atherosclerosis, thrombosis, and occlusive disease (“disease of smokers”). So it is better to quit smoking as soon as possible.
